Tell Your Senators: Children Shouldn’t Be Bargaining Chips
The House passed funding bills last week that include important investments for babies and young children. But there’s a problem – these crucial supports for babies are wrapped in the same bill as more funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). As ICE and CBP actions have played out across the country, many Senators who support the bipartisan investments in babies, are coming out against the overall bill because it includes more funding for immigration enforcement that is traumatizing children.
Funding for babies should not hinge on funding for ICE and CBP. We need the Senate to vote on these items as separate bills so programs providing vital supports for babies can move forward.
Enter your information below to call your Senators urging them to separate funding for babies from funding for ICE and CBP.
