Tell HHS: We Support Immigrant Families

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is asking for input on a new policy that would deny many immigrant families access to the essential programs that support their babies’ healthy development and early learning. HHS oversees many of the programs that babies and families rely on, like Early Head Start, community health centers, and mental health services that give babies the strong, healthy start they deserve.

As someone who cares about the well-being of babies and their caregivers, now is your chance to make your voice heard! By submitting a comment, you can help ensure immigrant families can continue accessing the programs their babies need.

Submit a pre-written comment to HHS to tell them not to deny immigrant families access to essential services by filling out your information below.

Customize your comment with 1-2 sentences about your unique experience after the first paragraph or elsewhere. Customized comments are more likely to be posted and considered. Start by explaining your relationship to babies (Do you have loved ones who are immigrant babies and families? Are you a care provider? Something else?) and then why HHS programs, like Early Head Start, community health services, and/or mental health services, are important to you. You only need to add this detail if comfortable, and can note your relationship at a high level.

For example: “I have seen how important access to the local community health center is for children to get check-ups…” or “As an Early Head Start provider, I’ve already seen parents afraid to take their child to our center because they worry it could affect their immigration status…”
