Support Head Start Educators
The Department of Health and Human Services is accepting public comments on a proposed rule that will make it harder for Head Start staff to earn a living wage, undermining providers’ ability to care for children and for families to find quality early learning opportunities.
Head Start programs have long faced severe staffing challenges, and many early educators leave programs for better paying roles. This proposed rule would rescind part of a 2024 Head Start regulation that bolstered wages and benefits for Head Start staff. Rolling back these rules make it harder for Head Start programs to keep experienced staff, maintain high-quality services and serve the children and families who depend on them.
Edit our pre-written comment below to tell the Administration to ensure that Head Start educators receive the pay and benefits they deserve.
Customize your comment with at least 1-2 sentences about your experience or unique perspective after the first paragraph or elsewhere. Customized comments are more likely to be considered. For example, you could start by explaining your role or relationship to babies, why you believe early educators deserve fair pay and benefits, and/or your experience with Head Start, Early Head Start, child care, or home visiting programs.
